Preparing for Thanksgiving

21 Nov

So, you know that we’re hosting Thanksgiving at our house, and you might remember that we just got a dining table, but we have no chairs (I tried to insert links to these items, but apparently wordpress hates me).   Ok, so we have one chair.  In an effort to have seats for everyone, we were on the hunt for more dining chairs this weekend, but we were spoiled by our earlier finds, and wanted to find something in the same price range ($25/chair).  We hit up Goodwill first, but it was a total bust.  I was intrigued by the auction they had going on, but none of the items were worth bidding on.

So, we headed next door to the Salvation Army and I found a great chair.  Sean is convinced that it’s not a dining chair, but I told him that he needed to think outside the box.  So what did we get?  This chair:

It has great nailhead detail, which I think you can see a little more of here:

This chair was $25!  I think it looks great at the head of the table.  So, what do you think?  Could it pass for a dining chair?

Also, since we’re preparing for Thanksgiving, I found a few things at Target, and used some of my leftover wedding stuff.  Here’s a sneak peek of our table set up:

More to come after Thanksgiving!

Given the setup that I remember you having, I think the chair could look really cool at the head of the table! Great find.

The little owl is so cute! And I definitely think the chair can be used at the dinner table. It reminds me of a steakhouse I used to work at.. there would be at least two of these chairs at the biggest tables. Great find!

Holy Moly!! That chair is such an amazing find! I’m looking for a chair just like that in red! I was inspired by your Garage sale post a couple of weeks ago and went to Goodwill on Saturday to see if I could find anything as awesome, but it was a complete bust. I’m so jealous of your finds!

you could definitely use that as a dining chair at the head of the table! it could be all alice in wonderland-ish. and can’t wait to see more of the table set-up! that little owl is so cute.

I think it’s a great chair! You could even do a whole bunch of different chairs, so that your guests have a choice of fave chair 🙂

I love the chair! Dining room tables don’t have to have typical dining room chairs now. I think it would be cool with a mix of different chairs.

My granddad had a chair similar to that, I think it would make a great dining chair. It has lots of character. Can’t wait to see what others you pair with it. 🙂

I would totally fight over getting that comfy looking chair at your dinner! Can’t wait to see the rest of your details after Thanksgiving!

I adore that chair. I’m hoping to do something similar with large, comfy, mismatching chairs when we move into our house. Good luck with the search!

i think the chair totally works as long as it’s not too low for the person in it to comfortably eat at the table. (i’m 5 ft even, so i think of these things, haha…booths are often a little too low for me.)
